California Consumer Privacy Act in a Nutshell
According to our CCPA Countdown Clock, we are 161 days and counting to the effective date of the California Consumer Privacy Act. The Mintz Privacy team is deeply involved in working with clients on developing compliance programs and digging into customer data for inventory and mapping exercises. If you’re not already doing that, our handy tip sheet outlines the very top level issues and may help to provide a broad overview. You should be considering the implementation of opt-out mechanisms, how your company will respond to access and deletion requests from California consumers, and may need to add a “Do Not Sell My Data” button to the homepage of your website. Don’t forget, the concept of “selling” is broader than you likely expect.
Our CCPA Toolkit contains links to all four of our CCPA webinars, a web version of the CCPA with hyperlinks to help you navigate the statute, and we continue to update it with new information about the amendment process and status.
Don’t forget to register for the fifth in our series of CCPA webinars, “California Consumer Privacy Act: Enforcement and That Private Right of Action”. You can find the registration link here. If you can’t make the webinar, register anyway and we will automatically send you the materials and a link to the webinar recording. CLE (and IAPP) credit is available for attendance at the live webcast.
