Irina is a registered patent agent with a background in chemistry and pharmacology. She focuses her work on drafting and prosecuting both US and international chemistry, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology patent applications.
Before joining Mintz, Irina worked as a patent agent for a major international law firm. There she managed patent portfolios, performed due diligence investigations, and conducted interviews with examiners from the US Patent and Trademark Office. She served as a legal analyst for another large firm, where her responsibilities included researching and analyzing pending USPTO matters, as well as analyzing and writing summaries for IP portfolios.
Irina’s career also includes work as a scientist and scientific advisor at Odessa State University in Ukraine. In her role as a scientific advisor, she helped manage the university’s IP portfolio. As a scientist, she co-invented the patents for a pair of novel immunotherapeutic drugs and supported the development of drugs to treat immune deficiencies.
