Lawrence is an intellectual property attorney and counselor with more than 20 years of experience practicing patent law in the life sciences. He deploys his scientific training in biochemistry and molecular biology to prosecute patents and provide strategic guidance on litigation and patenting issues. He represents clients in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and related fields.

Lawrence has experience with matters involving chimeric antigen receptors, antibodies, CRISPR, small molecules, isotope-based therapeutics, analgesics, IUDs, apparatus mount/transport systems, and drug delivery devices. Along with advising on noninfringement, invalidity, and due diligence issues involving innovations in these and other areas, he supports litigation relating to biologics and Orange Book-listed drugs.

Prior to joining Mintz, Lawrence was a senior patent counsel at an international law firm, where he provided strategic guidance on patenting issues to a wide range of life sciences clients. Earlier, he co-founded and ran his own patent law firm after practicing for more than 10 years at a well-known intellectual property law firm.

While earning his PhD, Lawrence focused his thesis on transcriptional regulation in the female germ line of Drosophila melanogaster. In law school, he served as staff editor and senior articles editor of the Annual Survey of American Law.
