Yanyi is a registered patent attorney and intellectual property litigator who represents clients in federal district courts and in post-grant proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office. She also has extensive experience with patent prosecution, counseling, and opinion work. Yanyi handles matters involving a wide range of technology areas, including electrical and computer innovations, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy materials and devices, and mechanical devices.

 

In the litigation side of her practice, Yanyi represents clients in all phases of litigation. Her experience covers various stages of litigation proceedings, including developing noninfringement and invalidity positions, collaborating with technical experts, taking and defending depositions, preparing motions, discovery requests, and pre-trial disclosures, and preparing for and attending trials. Yanyi also works on various patent office proceedings, including inter partes reviews (IPRs), post-grant reviews (PGRs), and ex parte reexamination (EPRs).

 

Yanyi’s practice also encompasses counseling and preparing opinions concerning invalidity, infringement or noninfringement, and other patenting issues. Additionally, she has experience preparing patent applications related to consumer electronics, battery materials and devices, graphical user interfaces, software applications, machine learning and artificial intelligence, semiconductor processing, lithography machines, materials science, mechanical devices, and smart appliances.

 

In all aspects of her work, Yanyi draws on her academic background and extensive research experience in materials for Li-ion batteries, solid oxide fuel cells, and nanotechnology. She has also contributed to more than 20 peer-reviewed journal publications, is named on multiple patents issued in the United States, Europe, Japan, and China, and has presented at numerous conferences.

 

Prior to joining Mintz, Yanyi was an associate at an international intellectual property law firm. Earlier, she worked as a patent agent at several global law firms and as a technical advisor at a boutique intellectual property law firm.
