In the summer of 2020 we witnessed the horrifying murder of George Floyd and too many other Black men and women, as well as the disproportionate effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Black and Brown communities. Against that backdrop, Mintz doubled down on our long-standing commitment to make the firm and our industry more diverse, inclusive, and equitable. In this first annual Mintz Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Report, we highlight some of the steps the firm initiated in 2020 to accelerate the pace of change. Steps like joining the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance to help eliminate systemic racism; committing to increasing the number of Black attorneys at Mintz by 50% in two years; giving Mintz employees the day off to volunteer on Election Day; joining the ABA 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge and meeting regularly as a community to discuss systemic racism; conducting anti-bias training for all firm interviewers and disseminating bias interrupters to all evaluators writing reviews; and hosting discussions on allyship, intersectionality, and pro bono work to dismantle racism. We welcome the opportunity to discuss these and other Mintz initiatives with our clients and industry colleagues, and we look forward to exploring new ways to advance diversity and inclusion together. |
