This FOA solicits proposals for RD&D associated with Scalable Concentrating Solar Collectors, Scalable Supercritical Carbon Dioxide (sCO2) and Scalable Concentrating Solar-thermal Receivers and Reactors. The three technologies will support the government-wide approach to the climate crisis by driving the innovation that can lead to the deployment of clean energy technologies, which are critical for climate protection.

This FOA solicits proposals that advance innovation to realize the Department’s critical minerals and materials vision of a reliable, resilient, affordable, diverse, sustainable, and secure domestic supply chains for the clean energy economy. Topics funded under this FOA include: Use of Magnets with Reduced Critical Materials Content, Improved Unit Operations of Processing and Manufacturing of Critical Materials, Critical Material Recovery from Scrap and Post-Consumer Products, and Reduced Critical Material Demand for Clean Energy Technologies.

In this FOA, OCED is seeking projects that can demonstrate that aggregated and coordinated distributed energy resources (DERs) can provide reliable, predictable grid services for a wide range of system configurations. This FOA makes available approximately $50 million in federal funds for transformative, at-scale projects within distribution systems. DOE will fund up to four (4) projects with an award size of at least $10 million.

The RUS Electric Program can provide loans and loan guarantees to energy project developers for distributed energy projects including renewables that provide wholesale or retail electricity to existing Electric Program borrowers or to rural communities served by other utilities

This three-phase competition will award up to $4 million to competitors to substantially increase the production and use of critical materials recovered from electronic scrap—or e-scrap. This prize encourages innovations that enhance the recovery of critical materials along the recycling value chain from end-of-life products to reintroduction. Innovation is also needed to facilitate the integration of the separation technologies into the recycling value chain.

The Energy Auditor Training (EAT) Program will provide Grant funding to States for the purpose of training individuals to conduct energy audits, or surveys, of commercial and residential buildings.

Nearly every rural electric cooperative utility nationwide has some form of energy efficiency program as part of its strategy to manage power costs, meet consumer demand and increase environmental regulatory compliance. The Energy Resource Conservation (ERC) Program enables current Rural Utilities Service (RUS) borrowers to make funds available to their consumers for energy conservation and renewable energy projects by deferring payment of principal and interest.

This is Funding Opportunity Announcement for applications for innovative long duration energy storage system (ESS) demonstration projects that advance a technology towards commercialization and validate its cost and performance in the field to the energy stakeholder community. These demonstrations will contribute data to the National Lab led Rapid Operational Validation Initiative (ROVI) in order to unlock insights about the performance of these systems that will accelerate the testing and validation process for emerging technologies.

ETIPP provides technical assistance for remote and island communities to bolster their energy resilience through tailored solutions. As a new element to the program this year, communities accepted to this cohort will also receive direct funding to support their time and engagement on the ETIPP project, in addition to in-kind technical assistance. Each community is paired with an experienced regional partner organization for approximately 18 months to receive guidance before, during, and beyond their ETIPP project.

The Community Change Grants will fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation. This historic level of support will enable communities and their partners to overcome longstanding environmental challenges and implement meaningful solutions to meet community needs now and for generations to come.
