Mintz Adds Strength To Cross-Border Corporate Practice
TORONTO – Mintz is set to further enhance its Debt Financing practice with the addition of Alex North, who joins as a Partner and will bolster the firm’s US and Canadian capabilities.
“Alex is a strong addition to our transactional bench in Toronto. She has a significant network in financial services and her experience will nicely complement our banking and finance capabilities in the US,” said Managing Member Bob Bodian. “Alex will play an integral role in servicing our clients on cross-border deals and she will enhance our debt finance practice.”
Alex has a broad banking and finance practice representing agents, lenders, and borrowers, with extensive experience representing clients on both sides of the Canada-US border. She regularly acts as Canadian counsel on fund financing transactions, providing strategic advice to North American and global banks.
Alex frequently advises clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional financings, including cash-flow deals, capital call and other types of sponsor financing, acquisition financing, roll-ups, and leverage finance. She is also called on to handle all types of commercial real estate and construction financing. Alex has significant experience in finance deals involving condominiums, health care, hotels, storage, cannabis, and other unique asset classes.
Prior to joining Mintz, Alex was a partner at an international law firm, where she represented Canadian and international financial institutions and borrowers, with an emphasis on lender-side work.
Mintz’s Toronto office continues to grow with the addition of several strategic hires since. In May, Tax Partner Katy Pitch joined the Toronto office, and in April Partners Matthew Atkey and Brad Tartick, Special Counsel Bernard Kwasniewski and Of Counsel Matthew Imrie joined Mintz giving firepower to its leading capital markets, M&A, funds, and employment and pensions-focused practices.
