Mintz Advises JMP Group in Sale to Citizens Financial Group
Mintz served as legal advisor to JMP Group (JMP), a capital markets firm that provides investment banking services, including strategic advisory, equity research and sales, and trading focused primarily on the healthcare, technology, financial services, and real estate sectors, in its recently completed sale to Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: CFG; Citizens), one of the nation’s oldest and largest financial institutions.
JMP, which was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in San Francisco, will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Citizens. This transaction further strengthens the bank’s growing corporate financial advisory capabilities.
Mintz Member Andrew Thorpe, who led the Mintz team in this transaction, has served as legal counsel for JMP since its initial public offering in 2007, advising on a number of public offerings, strategic acquisitions, and other corporate matters.
The Mintz team that advised JMP in its sale to Citizens was led by Mr. Thorpe along with Members Ivan Presant and Melissa Frayer.
