Mintz Forms Dedicated Product Risk Management & Response Practice
Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. announced the formation of a dedicated Product Risk Management & Response practice, comprised of seasoned attorneys with deep experience in protecting brands and meeting legal challenges associated with consumer products.
The practice encompasses a multidisciplinary team of experienced practitioners who help clients manage and mitigate risk throughout every stage of the product life cycle, providing strategic counsel on issues ranging from product recalls and product liability lawsuits to data breaches, trade practices, false advertising claims and class action litigation.
“Mintz has a long history in counseling clients on a range of challenging product liability issues,” said Charles Samuels, a Member of the firm and Chair of the Consumer Products Safety Practice. “The formation of a dedicated practice leverages our multidisciplinary capabilities and is a natural extension of our background and experience in this increasingly complex area.”
The Product Risk Management & Response practice incorporates counsel from the firm’s Consumer Product Safety, FDA, EPA, Privacy & Security, Class Action, Insurance & Reinsurance, and Complex Tort & Product-Related Litigation practices, and when necessary, government relations and crisis management professionals from its consulting affiliate, ML Strategies, LLC. It includes former Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel to Chairman at the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and former attorneys with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The practice attorneys not only navigate federal consumer product laws, but also critical state laws and regulations, such as California’s Proposition 65, and those in place internationally, including Canada consumer product safety regulation, EU product safety directives and China’s export controls and internal recall procedures.
