Mintz Strengthens Private Equity Team with New Member

Mintz announces that Daniel Cowan has joined as a Private Equity Member in the firm’s Boston office. Dan represents private equity funds, portfolio companies, strategic investors, and asset managers in complex business transactions and general corporate matters. He focuses his practice on middle-market deals involving the retail and consumer products, financial services, technology, and health care sectors.

“Mintz is committed to helping private equity clients achieve their goals through some of the most sophisticated transactions in the industry,” said Managing Member Bob Bodian. “Dan has extensive experience with complex deal structures, and his technical knowledge further strengthens and deepens the firm's core practice assisting our clients in achieving the best outcomes in the PE space.”

Dan has significant experience leading public and private mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and growth equity financings. He also provides strategic counsel on recapitalizations, minority investments, joint ventures, continuation funds, and other investment transactions.

“I have had the opportunity to work on the other side of Dan on multiple deals and have always been impressed by his strategic problem solving and client-focused approach,” said Private Equity Co-chair Gregory Fine. “He’s an excellent lawyer, and his middle-market focus complements our PE team perfectly. I look forward to working with him again.”

Prior to joining Mintz, Dan was a partner at Ropes & Gray, where he advised on a wide array of transactions and related matters for private equity and corporate clients. He earned a JD, with high honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a BS, with highest distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
