b'2023 MIATTY Retreat Mintzs annual MIATTY retreat was held this year on October 10, 12, and 13. More than 100 attorneys and Patent Agents of color attended the full program, and hundreds more joined in for two firm wide virtual sessions offered on Zoom. The highlight of the fir t day was a presentation by guest speaker Dr. Kenji Yoshino, who shared insights on the topic Say the Right Thing. In a conversation open to the whole firm, D . Yoshino helped the audience more deeply understand how to express the right words at the right time. Other presentations included Empowering Leadership: Breaking Barriers and Cultivating Diversity and panel discussions customized for every experience level within the firm.hese panels included But How Do I Say That Professionally? for Associates in years 1-5 and Elevation & Beyond for Associates in years 5+. No MIATTY retreat is complete without networking and social elements, which largely took place at a minority-owned restaurant in Boston. This year, there was also a joint MIATTY service project in conjunction with the nonprofit Sp ead the Joy, where participants worked together to pack games, activities, and books into individual joy boxes for children in pediatric hospital units across Boston. The retreat concluded with an eye toward the future, with participants contributing to a goal-setting session involving ideas to be shared with firm leadershi .
